Seorang
anggota mafia pimpinan Alphonse (Terrence Howard) yang bernama Victor
(Colin Farrell), mencoba mencari jawaban atas pelaku pembunuhan teman
sesama gengnya yang bernama Paul (Aaron Vexler). Untuk mengungkap
pelakunya, Victor kerap melakukan penyelidikan bersama sahabatnya, Darcy
(Dominic Cooper), satu persatu petunjuk yang mereka temukan langsung
dieksekusi dengan baik.
Victor sudah
menjadi orang kepercayaan Alphonse karena selalu dapat diandalkan. Namun
disisi lain, tetangga Victor yang bernama Beatrice (Noomi Rapace) sudah
mengamati gerak-geriknya dan mengancam akan melaporkan tindakan
kejahatan yang dilakukan ke polisi. Hanya ada 1 syarat yang bisa
membatalkan niatan Beatrice, yaitu Victor harus melakukan sesuatu yang
berkaitan dengan dendamnya.
Melihat
dendam yang dimiliki Beatrice, Victor ternyata juga memiliki misi
dibalik keterlibatannya sebagai anggota geng Alphonse. Mulai dari
sanalah Victor harus mencoba memilih untuk melaksanakan tuntutan dari
Beatrice ataukah misi terselubungnya yang sudah dipendam sejak lama
